Production Methods Research

Projection Mapping

Projection Mapping uses everyday video projectors, but instead of projecting on a flat screen, light is mapped onto any surface, turning common objects of any 3D shape into interactive displays.

Sarah SZE

Sarah Sze explores the emotional and psychological aspects of time through a site-specific installation that combines a not-so-functional work space, a cacophony of randomised projectors, and a series of data compiling computers.

Fragmenting of imagery onto different materials/objects related to brief could present contrasting themes/motives within the content. Content could be imagery from a place/experience.

Your Painful Punch Card Job, Reimagined as a Light Show

Reimagining a space through lighting - how can you keep the essence of a process/place but reimagine it through a projection.

LAB BINÆR repurposes an abandoned textile factory Massive sheets of paper hang like textiles from the ceiling in the first part of the pre-programmed show, while the ker-chink of a machine reading a punch card resounds throughout the space. During the second part, LAB BINÆR sets the cement columns supporting the building alight in Trasnports you away from the place.

Interactive Projection

Marcos Zotes

AMAZE is a glowing geometric maze that comes alive at night through colorful and disorienting light projections.

In relation to brief scattered imagery could be projected onto materials/objects related to brief, as to present a theme of disorientation - or the unknown./change.

Marcos Zotes

Light projection is used to augment and change the urban environment.

Could the projection target the viewers and make them the interactive part of the projection,

Are they being watched?
Whats changing about them and why?

Website

Sinta Tantra - form and shape - process (layer)

https://sintatantra.com/artworks/

A aesthetic approach to the website, could the website follow the format of layered imagery changing in value as you scroll down the website. Conveying the changing value gentrification brings to a neighbourhood.

Could the website follow the website follow a set of flayers that change in form or become some how less or more. May that be through them deteriorating or through become less desirable (gentrification)

'Dealing with Gentrification' website

A literal 'toolkit' advice to how areas have dealt with gentrification on an economical, social or environmental level. Content is interesting and could be a way to present the themes i want to question/answer.

Interactive Installation

Indications - Marcos Zotes

Could the projection be played throguh something - is the physical obscuring/distriting the projection?

Projection onto objects

https://www.urbanprojections.com/

What are the objects - related to gentrification.

  • old objects (undesirable) - see the change through the
  • building material
  • industrial materials

Projected onto objects - These objects (original idea/memory of a place) don’t change but the glitch ‘the surface level changes to the building’ does

The curser is spray paint. So when you move around the page is spray paints the background
