Cover Title (tests)

The title is spray-painted on through stencils cut out on laser cutter, as to represent the graffiti aimed at the gentrification of Kelham Island 'want to live in Kelham but think you can't afford it'; also paying homage to the period of time when Kelham Island was derelict, and how far it has come since then through the regeneration of industry there.

The 1st design simply says 'POLITICS OF A SPACE' - the title of the brief (the politics/disparity of views of different sects of people towards an area being gentrified or regenerated. Which looks okay as it cover the whole cover vertically, but doesn't portray the industrial look I was aiming for.

The 2nd design says the same, with the question 'gentrification or regeneration' under. Presenting the themes in the book in a way that is instantly recognisable to the reader.

The first two stencils were made from card, which the spray paint leaked through; blurring the type. The kerning of the text was too close as well which made the title ineligible.

Increased the kerning of the type for this stencil, and used 6mm mdf instead of card which stopped the paint leaking through onto the sheet metal and blurring the type. The text looks a lot clearer and the Arial black typeface presents the 'perfect/machinery' aesthetic that is present on the old factories around Kelham Island.
